It was a shining nomination from practice manager John Smith at the adjoining GP surgery that clinched it for Westhill Pharmacy in the hotly-contested Covid-19 Heroes category.

In nominating the “small, hard-working team“, he said: “They have gone above and beyond to help patients and provide a 5* service. They have adapted and evolved to operate a safe enviroment for staff and patients, excelling with good advice and they have strong links with us here.” This multidisciplinary working extended to other healthcare providers in the area too, with Westhill setting up a WhatsApp network to collaborate and best support customers. 

The only pharmacy in the area to keep their normal working hours, the pharmacy showed an exceptional level of care and were proactive in organising deliveries for all patients aged over 70 and everyone shielding. The team took home highly commended in the Covid-19 Heroes category.

“Westhill Pharmacy may have a small team but by taking a proactive approach in dealing with the pressures of Covid had a big impact on their local community,” says Richard Thomas, judge and editor of Pharmacy Magazine.
